China NMPA Announces Suspension of Import, Operation, and Use of Laurus Optics Limited Ophthalmic Surgical Blades (Announcement No. 82 of 2026)

On August 27, 2026, China's National Medical Products Administration officially issued Announcement No. 82, declaring the immediate suspension of the import, operation, and use of ophthalmic surgical blades (Registration No.: NMPA Registration (HK/MO/TW) 20252160016) manufactured by Laurus Optics Limited. This regulatory action followed a remote quality system inspection that revealed serious deficiencies in the company's quality management system across multiple critical areas, including the performance of key personnel, design and development, production management, quality control, and product releaseposing significant quality and safety risks to patients.


To safeguard public medical device safety, and in accordance with the "Regulations on the Supervision and Administration of Medical Devices" and the "Measures for the Supervision and Administration of Medical Device Production," the NMPA took this decisive measure effective immediately.
